Druk Path trek is the most popular trek in Bhutan. It is an ancient trade route from Thimphu to Paro when there was no road. Druk Path trek gives very good view of high mountain peaks of Bhutan. This trek will come across lakes, plants, conifer forest, ancient monasteries and retreat places.


Day 1 : Paro to Jele Dzong

From Paro drive one hour, through farm road till Damchena village 2880 above National Museum. After the farm road, the trail gradually ascend up hill through the forest of pine, fir & Rhododendron trees. After trekking 2 – 3 hours up hill, you reach to ridge marked with a small chorten stupa made with piled of stone before just before Jele Dzong.

Tonight’s camp is in a yak pasture below Jele Dzong which is perched on the ridge. 3480 metres If the weather is clear, you can see the upper Paro valley far below, with Jumolhari and other snow capped peaks in the distance. Evening: Visit the Jele Dzong Monastery built in 15th century by Ngawang Chogyel now houses the monks school under Paro Dzong

Day 2 : Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha

Begin trek climbing up Jele la Pass 3560 m) walking through the ridge of Jele Dzong and then ascend gradually up around the cone-shaped hill making few short descend, through the Rhododendron, Fir and cider forest to the Jangchu lhakha Meadow.

You may seek yaks and yak herders around your camp site in early spring and late autumn.

Day 3 : Jangchulakha to Jimilangtso

After a short climb from the camp, you reach at Tsokam Yak herders camp, where you come across two trails right goes to Larithang and Tseluney. Left path goes to Jimilangtso which leads uphill to the ridge of Jangchulhakha and follows through the ridge to Langi Bja La rock which looks like an ox head, from here trail ascend up hill for about one hour and descends to The campsite by the lake Jimilangtso. 3870 m

On clear day you can see the view of Jumolhari and Jewchu drakey from the ridge Jimilangtso and Jangchulhakha.

Day 4 : Jimilangtso to Simtokha

The trail leads gradual up hill through dwarf rhododendron trees and then passes by lake Jenetso at 3950 m. From Janetso trail leads up hill to the Pass at 4150 between Simkota and Janetso for 3 hours & descends shortly to Semkota Camp above the Lake altitude: 4110 m

Day 5 : Simtokha to Thimphu Via Phajoding

From Camp the trek begins with a gradual climb up to Labanala 4210 m the highest pass on druk path then the trail descends and winds through the dwarf Rhododendron ridge till the Phumela pass 4080 m above Phajoding. If the weather permits, you will have a spectacular view of Mount Gangkhar Phuensum, the highest mountain in Bhutan, as well as other Himalayan Mountain ranges. From here, the trek takes you downhill to Phajoding Monastery 3750M where you halt for a lunch break during the final lap of the trek downhill to Thimphu. In Mothithang at 2520 m, Rainbow transport will receive you and take you to your hotel for a nice hot bath/shower.
