The Bumdra trek is one of the most beautiful short duration trek in Bhutan with only two night camping in the wild. The scenery and landscape may well be worth compared to all the other treks in terms of the adventure and the experience that goes along as you hike up to Bumdrak also called the “trek of the thousand Dakinis”. You can even explore the numerous caves where the angels had convened. From the first day from your campsite, you will be able to visit the mystical caves where the thousand Dakinis had met.

Bumdrak trek will end with visit of Magical Tiger nest Monastery.


Day 1 : Paro-Bumdrak Via Sangchokor Monastery

After early breakfast and drive to Sangchokor monastery, Shaydra(Buddhist College for one hour and starts trekking to Bumdrak at an elevation of approximately 3,200 m.

Today’s trekking will take about 5 hrs. This stretch is a pleasant walk through the forest where you get to enjoy the view of Paro valley. The trail is gradual steep climbs, but you will feel out-of-breath because of the high elevation. The campsite is at an altitude of about (3868mt). You will camp in the vicinity of a monastery named Bumdrak. It is believed that 1,000 Dakinis had meditated in a cave and blessed the place and hence the name, Bumdrak. Overnight Camp at Bumdrak

Day 2 : Bumdarak Halt

Today after leisurely breakfast Bumdrak, hiking around Bumdark meditations hermitage place and holly cave, hike up to ridge to get the best view of the Himalayas in Bhutan. Lunch at the camp site. After lunch, you can relax at the camp site, enjoying the nature.

Day 3 : Bumdrak-Paro Via Tigernest

After breakfast start trekking down to Paro valley, trail is mostly downhill through the mixed conifer forest of Rhododendron, fir and juiper trees it will take about 2 hours to Ugyentsemo beautiful location overlooking the valley. Before Tigernest you can also visit Machig Labdron Temple on the cave Visit the Taktsang Monastery.

The visit of Taktsang Goemba (Tiger’s Nest Monastery) which is perched on a steep rock face at 9,678 ft. This is one of the most important pilgrimage places in Bhutan. On a hill top, clearly visible from some point before getting to Taktsang, there is another monastery known as Ugyen Tsemo. It is about 200 m above Taktsang and it takes another one hour to base of the Taktsang.

Picnic Lunch will be served by our staff on the way. On arrival at Tiger nest base Paro you will be driven to Hotel for check in Paro Hotel for overnight
